Their absence is a challenge, so I use the silence for introspection. No voices will be heard in the house this weekend and I’ll listen only to the silence. The sense deprivation will be my practice of staying vigilant with the appreciation I hold for them.

Today I’ll look out the window and ignore nature while I contemplate the past. Tomorrow only the present will remain.
