Humans are lazy, just like every other living being.

What stops me from blaming the outside world for my internal problems? Without reflection, it is so easy to believe everyone is wrong that doubting my own often ridiculous conclusions sometimes feels unreasonable.

I guess that’s why letting go is so important.

Given our daily observations, clearly few empathize with others. Self-reflection seems so effortless that its absence is confounding. It isn't really that much work, unless you think of a better alternative — yet, I'm unsure one exists.

Among my life’s turmoil ten years ago, I had never considered what “attachment” means in any context, much less as a subtle philosophy. And, with so much misplaced self-confidence then, why would I have?

It wasn’t until I made the decision to actively change my life that I understood the meaning of emptiness.
